Bullying Awareness Week

This week, schools across the country took part in Bullying Awareness Week. Its a week to really look deeply at bullying and give students resources and skills to help them work through the problem of bullying.
In our class we watched some videos, had some discussions and looked at the three types people involved in bullying situations; the bullied, the bystander and the bully. We put our initial thoughts down on sticky notes, share them with the class and then starting writing some "I Am" poems. The poems were very well written and the students did a good job of putting themselves in someone else's shoes.
On Friday, we had our regular DARE class, but with a  twist. Constable Super Dave was sporting his pink officer shirt and several of us joined him in wearing pink to show that we are against bullying. Thornton and Maren got to test their acting skills by doing some role playing with Batman and Hulk costumes. We enjoyed a good laugh.
