Mrs. Reid's Grade 6: Main Idea Bags!

In Reading we have been learning how to summarize texts. One of the most important parts of doing this is determining the main idea and the most important supporting details. Enter the main idea bag! Students were asked to take a bag, decide on a main idea and add 5 supporting details about that main idea. They were to also add 2 other details that were about the main idea, but not the most important details.
We had lots of fun walking around the class checking out each other's work. Some main ideas were easy to determine. Some took some harder thinking to figure out. :)
